Loop Review the Similarities Inside the Batting cage and in the Entrepreneurial Environment

Many business people take part in competitive sports, but should that be seen as a hobby, or as an activity that can complement their entrepreneurial life? There are many studies which look at how participation in competitive sports, can give entrepreneurs an edge when it comes to their business. Here, managing director of Loop, looks specifically  at the parallels between Batting Cages and Entrepreneurship and the transferable skills that apply to both the batting cage and entrepreneurial environment.

Winning Mindset

The first of these is creating a winning mindset. Sports people and entrepreneurs will experience both victories and defeat when coming up against ‘curve balls’, but the true competitor realises that they need to focus on long term goals. In this way eventual success will be achieved, and temporary setbacks can be overcome.

Heightened Awareness

The second skill is a heightened awareness of the obstacle or opposition. While the batter knows their primary focus must be on their own performance, they also have to study how the ball will behave when coming towards them at high speed, much like an entrepreneur can spot a weaknesses and tackle any obstacle ‘thrown’ at them.

Increased Confidence

Batters who regularly hit every ball fired at them, gain an inner belief in their own ability to win. The more shots a batter hits, under high pressure in the cage, the better they will become, and the more confident.

Physical and Spiritual Strength

Entrepreneurs across the world know how focused they are when they feel physically and mentally strong, and competitive sport is just as effective at energising the body and brain.

“There are so many similarities between the demand for fast actions and decisions when faced with an incoming obstacle in the batting cage, and then in the world of business”, said CEO of Loop. “I encourage all entrepreneurs to find your strength from a sport you love and then take part on a regular basis. It can give you a real edge over your rivals on the field and in the boardroom.”

Bespoke marketing is another way to gain a competitive edge. Loop create innovative and exciting marketing campaigns that can bring real growth to any business.
